they're still not autocrossing, it's Gymkhana /pedantry (Ken Block didn't invent it, he just put a sideways cap on it and about 400 more hp than is usually used)
![]() 02/11/2015 at 00:51 |

shhh, its close enough. make it through cone in the shortest amount of time.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 01:08 |

nah, I get super pedantic about that one. Gymkhana has the skill tests and reverse sections, Autocross is all forward gears.
no such thing as autocross for bikes because they're not autos, they're motos.
and motocross is a thing because the 'cross' means 'cross country' ie offroad
therefore Americans grind my gears because their autocross isn't offroad like it should be.
It's a never-ending pedantic spiral.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 01:15 |

well, this COULD be auto since it iss all forward gears too :P
(well...ONE forward gear for the most part)

I'm disturbed by the lack of supermotos...

there were some, but its not as impressve a freaking busa making its way through on of these courses
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:16 |

I can't autocross a motorcycle though, it's not allowed at SCCA
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:20 |

Lol, why would anyone even want to "autocross" a motorcycle when you can do an actual track day (and races) far cheaper than cars?
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:22 |
|
because the closest track to me is 2 hours away -.-' this i can do in a big parking lot 5 minutes away :P

The level of control is definitely impressive. It seems like a square peg / round hole scenario though, especially the top one.
This would be awesome on a Grom. On a 600cc? Nah, need to take it somewhere that you can go ridiculously fast.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:35 |

uhh./..how is a a ZX10-R more square peg round hole then A: a freaking busa, or B: a H-D?
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:35 |

Grattan is a few hours from me too, but it beats the hell out of some cones in a parking lot, so treat yoself! It's like a spa day for bikers :)

The same applies to them. The Busa is best experienced on a drag strip, the HD outside of a bar frequented by other leather enthusiasts.
Again, the display of low speed control is impressive.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 11:51 |

also, no track leathers.
and I'm trying to save up for that speed triple, so leather suits will have to wait.

I respect the budget, but if you ever get the chance, most track days will have rentals available too.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 16:54 |

but it's neither auto or cross :/
proper car gymkhana is pretty awesome
![]() 02/11/2015 at 21:34 |

The 'Busa is most impressive to you? It's the cop that I find most amazing. Though the difference in my amazement level for the two is miniscule.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 21:35 |

its borderline between the busa, the cop, and the dude on the old VFR doing it in the wet....

I'm amazed at these guys ability to even touch the brake at that speed and with that much lean. I would just end up with a stopped bike, and me trying to hold it up.
My riding skills do not even see that universe through a telescope. Forget even brushing that universe.
Thank God, the skill test for my license was not one of these courses.

That sounds kind of disgusting. Bowling shoes are bad enough, rental leathers that someone has been sweating in for an hour or two, and then possibly code brown(ing) inside of.
Where's that NOPE .gif when you need it.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 21:44 |

got a couple for yea
![]() 02/11/2015 at 21:45 |

i can do the course....just no where NEAR that speed...
I need a 125, a big gear in the back, a lot of cones, and some time to practice.
![]() 02/11/2015 at 21:50 |
|
I guess, the VFR wasn't as impressive to me since it looks like it is a training bike with those huge bars sticking out front and back. I feel like the risk to the bike was much lower.
Admittedly, the rider's skill is insane to charge a course with it so wet out.

When I rented, mine was brand new. And you should be wearing full underarmour or equivalent underneath anyway.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 20:00 |
|
Brand new I could handle. I'm not sure underarmour or similar actually changes the whole sweat issue as those sort of garments are designed to immediately wick sweat and fluids away from your skin and send them out to the outer layers. I guess it would mitigate some of that, but it's just a matter of degree at that point to me.
It's all moot for me anyway. We have no track here where I live, and I can't just pop over to the next state.

I could do the course (and the word speed shouldn't be used in the idea of me doing it.)
My two wheeled choice might just be a little 50cc pit bike or one of those mini-street bikes. Their radius might make it doable.
